This App only provides benefit to users of the WSSC Energy Information System (EIS).
The EIS Demand Management App provides Demand Curtailment Reporting (DCR) to enhance the financial performance of an energy facility. DCR has the purpose of informing the user about current (real-time) as well as historical events that relate electrical load (kW) at a facility to the electrical load on the electricity grid.
This "coincident load" is a major business concern for large electricity users because there is monetary value to every marginal kW of load on the electrical grid during peak demands. There are charges associated with Peak Load Contribution (PLC) that are presented on invoices from both electric distribution and supply companies year-round. Therefore the awareness, and management, of CL during peak grid demands enhances the financial performance of the facility on an ongoing basis. Additionally, there are programs that offer direct compensation for specific drops of load at specific times that are determined “on the fly”, typically with a few hours notice to as little as one hour notice.
